5 on, 3 off, 4 on

We’re getting busier and busier and we wouldn’t have it another way.
The schedule is changing rapidly, so be on the lookout if you’re searching for some live music in your life. The 4 day road trip and 5 straight nights of shows was incredible. Our experience at First Friday was “magical” as The Stafford was packed. Check out some of the Wylde Soul Photography on the next gallery. We saw lots of old friends and made some new ones between Austin and College Station. We’re trying to return at the beginning of next month, as well. We, finally, kicked off our residency at Bayou Beer Garden and it was a treat. Some LSU Med students took to us and started a dance party, good times had by all. Tomorrow night we’re in the most romantic city in the world, Houma, Louisiana. Valentines day donuts from Mr. Ronnie’s are a must. Saturday pushes us to rock out at Mud and Water in Baton Rouge ( a show I’m greatly looking forward to) and Sunday we’ll be in Houston at The Runway for a big ole party. Wrap it back up at BBG next Monday. 5 days on, 3 days rest, 4 days on. Yes, sir.

We released the first in a series of Live Performance videos to the song “Love is the only drug”. Rumored video up next is “Second Chances”. I say rumored as if I don’t know…. The next video WILL be “Second Chances” and it will give you a different insight to Hazy Ray. The guys and I are working hard on a new music video and an equally as awesome summer tour route.

NEWS AS OF THIS WEEK:

Hazy Ray will be playing House of Blues a Foundation room, Friday of French Quarter Fest. We will also be playing the VooDoo Garden on Sunday, March 2nd, 1p-4p.

Keep in touch and I’ll do the same… Keep an eye out for cool stuff happening via our Facebook and Website.

Thanks!

You and I

Yo, Josh is sick, Mike just recovered, Mitch played an electric standup and Ryan is making curry. Meanwhile, Willie and Ayana prove they’re the most attractive couple known to man.

So… There’s that.

We had a rambunctious weekend with shows Thursday – Saturday and the Super Bowl. While Team: “Why Not Us?” Beat Team: “Yo, this quarterback is really good.”, we we’re finalizing our live performance videos to quietly launch a campaign of recordings from this past summer’s SpringBoard South festival in Houston, and our own event, Purple and Gold Bash II, from November. Anywhere from six to ten total videos will bet released over the course of the next few months. A constant point of criticism we’ve received has pointed out our incredible lack of Live footage of performances, and how our current music video, as awesome as it is – and it IS, doesn’t properly demonstrate how many faces we rock during a show. In an effort to fully prepare a potential attendee, and truly warn them of so much potential face rocking, we have humbly obliged. So, be on the lookout for that.

This past Thursday we played Smoky Row in Houma, Luna in Lake Charles Friday, and the Foundation Room at The House of Blues New Orleans on Saturday night. An interesting travel situation left us needing gear on Friday, and Luna came through. Also, we we’re interviewed by Louisiana Indie Radio upon arrival. Notice the cool setup photos and interview photos in the gallery.

Saturday’s experience was incredible. The Foundation room has years of history and prestige. To play the room for the night of the 20th Anniversary for The House of Blues was brilliant.

Okay, here’s our weekend ahead:
Thursday, Austin
The Blackheart – our friends in the Austin based band Roxy Roca hooked us up with this gig. These guys absolutely rock, I’ve seen them out here at Gasa Gasa down the street and BBG, so click on that and check them out. So much soul. This will be their regular gig but we’ve been asked to fill in for em this week, we’re really looking forward to playing this show.

Friday, Downtown Bryan
FIRST FRIDAY! In downtown Bryan, the first Friday of every month is a big festival-esque day. Live music, art, food… It’s got everything and it’s always great to play with our good friends in Larynx music. This will be the third time we’ve played with our boys in Larynx and twice at The Stafford. The Stafford kicks ass, the bands kick ass…. There’s some ass kicking to be had on Friday night.

Saturday, College Station
The Republic 1836. Where it all started.

Sunday, Downtown Bryan
The Village – Ryan, Josh, Alan, and I played this gig two Sundays ago and it was fantastic. Cool vibes, amazing people and food, it’s a pleasant acoustic experience.

Again, keep your eyes out for the video. Next weekend we’re playing more shows, eh, just stay in touch.

Mike

ImageImage Mike here, this past week has been equal parts busy and awesome. Ryan, Josh, and I have been in Texas working and playing some acoustic shows. Stops in Austin, San Antonio, College Station, Victoria, and Bryan on this leg. We’ve also been hanging out at Ryan’s apartment in Houston getting work done, in what will now forever be known as the “Houston Compound”… or #HoustonCompound for you social media savvy folk. I’m currently sitting on Ryan’s bed blogging watching these two dudes track and plan out our next recording project – NOT the Superman EP – we’ve got something else coming for you all. We’re going to be spending some time at Wire Roads Studios here in Houston in March and we’re getting a jump on the project. While I can’t tell you much about the recording project, I can tell you it’s going to be awesome, catchy, and our next step in bringing you more music with our true sound.

Last night the three of us were awake until about 4 in the morning editing a live performance video project from last year’s summer tour. The plan is to be bringing you tons of cool stuff this year, with an emphases on our live performances. We want to bring music to everyone we know, across this country and planet – and we want to share our live performances with as many people as possible.

February is looking great with sixteen shows coming your way in Louisiana and Texas.

March will bring recording, touring, a performance or two at SXSW (unofficial) and a glorious return to Auburn, Alabama with our good friend Chris Rainey and his band Ship of Fools.

April – Mike turns 26 and French Quarter Festival at the House of Blues Stage.

Hazy Ray has a ton going on this year, we have some huge plans and lofty aspirations. Thanks for being here with us.

We wouldn’t be able to do this without you guys.

Keep checking in here every Tuesday and I’ll keep you posted on any new and cool developments. In the meantime… here are some pics of what we’ve been up to.  You can also follow our Facebook, Twitter, not to mention Ryan and I’s personal Twitter and Instagram… we’re always posting stupid stuff when we’re together.

much love.

Expectations are high.

What’s going on people? This past week was a busy one. We still haven’t kicked off our gig at Bayou Beer Garden due to some weather, but all parties involved are trying to make it happen soon. We’ve got some interesting invites/opportunities to a few major Music Festivals and, when confirmed, we’ll update everybody through a vast shameless plug across a multitude of social medias, websites…. Yeah. You get it.

A, potentially, very important opportunity has come our way as well. Hazy Ray has been booked to play the Foundation Room at the House of Blues New Orleans 20th Anniversary Celebration. It’s a private performance on February 1st and we’re all excited to make a bigger splash here in town.

The Superman EP is now completely recorded, its launch will be soon announced. This will be a free download available only on our website. It’s FREE. Free music… Just download it, listen to it…. And if you dig it: tell your friends! That’s all we ask.

You can also be on the lookout for a website makeover and a few live performance videos from last year, Superman video to follow…. with rumors of less Mike Hayes nudity… So that’s a plus.

UPCOMING TRIPS!
Josh and Ryan are in Texas right now, performing a few duo gigs, Mike to join them for Saturday night in College Station, at The Republic 1836. Next week the acoustic act will play Monday in Mid-City and Wednesday in Baton Rouge.

In the first week of February the full band will venture off into Texas for some shows and recording. As well as a few full band performances in Louisiana.

More information to follow.

Well, thanks for checking in with us – we appreciate your time…. But you should probably get back to work.

And We’re Back

What’s up everybody? Mike here. We started this blog as a tour blog only but every week I’ll be posting an insight to what the Hazy Ray guys are up to this year. We have big plans.. and we’d love for you to be a part of it.

We’re coming off of a show at Smoky Row in Houma, Louisiana, about an hour South-West from New Orleans. The crowd was energetic and personable, the staff was slinging drinks left and right and made our night. Can’t wait to get back there.

We have our first residency/house-gig starting this upcoming Monday (friendly temperature willing) at Bayou Beer Garden in Mid-City. We’ll be playing every Monday starting at 7p.

2014 is going to be a huge year for us. We can’t wait to bring you: New Music with our “Superman EP”, new LIVE performance videos, a couple music videos and multiple tours… and that’s just in the first six months. So stay posted here on the blog, on our Facebook, and definitely keep an eye on our website… Some really cool things happening there.

As always feel free to reach out to us with suggestions of cities or venues you want to see us play/visit. Can’t wait to see you guys around the country!

Take Care and Happy New Year!!!!
